References & Supplements

There are three core characteristics I want my Blog to represent: Honesty, Transparency and Usefulness. This special Section demonstrates two of those things: Transparency and Usefulness.

Part 1: References

References represent Transparency. Each Blog post will have its own set of References, packaged in a separate Microsoft Word Document. You are not allowed to make edits nor republish a set anywhere else on the World Wide Web. You are, however, free to download them if you need to access them offline. The content of each document will be a Harvard Referenced collection of sources for almost every image, piece of media, embedded link, quote, etc. that I will use in every part of my Blog. The reason I use the word almost is because I use Microsoft PowerPoint (right now) to construct both my Feature Images (i.e. The Thumbnails at the top of each post) and the occasional image that features in between blocks of text. I also use, what I deem, appropriate Stock Images, Icons and Smart Art all contained within the programme. I don’t believe it to be necessary to credit them every time, except for the source(s) of the data used to fill out any Graphs. Although I could be completely wrong on that point and if I am, please inform me of how I should handle the referencing of those items and I will ensure it is done every time.

As I just mentioned, I use the Harvard Referencing System for this part. I have used it since I went to college for the first time in 2017 and still use a booklet provided by the college at the time as my guide for writing my lists. However, I am no doubt going to occasionally make a mistake. So, if you, while reading over a document in this part of the section…

  • Have spotted an error in the structure of any reference.
  • Have spotted a failure on my part to reference something accurately or at all.
  • Have spotted a reference that is out of date or no longer traceable.
  • Have spotted a reference that is incorrectly attributed to someone or somewhere else. Or
  • Know a better way to reference a piece of content I use.

Then feel free to get in touch in order to inform and / or help me out. All the ways to do so are available on the Information & Contact Me page.

Before you delve into the meat of this part, I think it’s important that I start as I mean to go on. You may have noticed that the Page Hubs have Feature Images of their own and the odd embedded link to something that explains what I’m referencing through dry humour. Well, this is the list of References for those items which may update once a season, or as I introduce Subsections, or if I decide to rebrand them!

Oh, and Information & Contact Me has a graphic illustrating my Social Media Handles that needs the same treatment.
