The Aspie #12 – Being Uninterested in… Bad YouTubers

I may be a YouTube Binger, but there are certain creators and categories I wouldn’t touch. Even in Incognito Mode.

Time to pick up the pace with a few quickfire examples. Starting with someone who has produced questionable content about evolving situations and is awful as a person. That’s ImAllexx. Two situations come to my mind on the first point. The first is how he reported on the Slazo Situation, which The Right Opinion has documented here so I would direct you to that video for the full story. And the second is how he talked about Fame MMA and the actions of Kristian Sturt. Alex painted Sturt as being a controlling party in the UK version of the event, which was written off as a cringe fest. But Kristian set the record straight on JaackMaate’s Happy Hour and noted how Alex apologised through his empty third channel, which is not a way to apologise… I don’t think…? And as for his character… Well… When you treat women badly, you get what you deserve, as J Aubrey reports.

Now, the common problem with the two examples I cited above, for me at least, is a jumping to conclusions without taking time to assess information already available or waiting for more which may or may not change the facts behind a situation. And that’s the thing about commentary that focuses on evolving situations. They need to be careful about how they report this stuff since it may or may not change rapidly by the day. But just as important as what you report is how you report it. Which brings me to iNabber. I was actually a subscriber of the channel during his early period when he had surfer dude hair, wore plaid shirts most of the time (my favourite) and featured in part one of Shane Dawson’s “documentary” (The Film Theorists argue why I use inverted commas) on Jake Paul.

However, three factors influenced my decision to unsubscribe. The first was me discovering channels that produced content I was more interested in, The Right Opinion – who I’ve cited several times in this post – being a prime example. The second was the delivery relying too much on dry humour, usually when discussing serious topics and allegations. Even though I understand why he employs it a lot, other content creators handle the same or similar topics much better, mostly by shooting from the hip and calling a spade a spade, let the algorithm be damned! And the third was the content itself being too fixated, at times, on the oopsies of controversial figures, such as Jeffre Star. It became repetitive and made me go ‘Okay, I get it, he’s a piece of crap, what’s new?’ And it made me want to watch an hour and a half from The Right Opinion rather than 20 to 30 minutes on something or someone I don’t really care that much about today.

Although, to be fair, there are far worse YouTubers that produce far worse content, which makes me nitpicky, especially towards someone like iNabber who has had a year from hell for reasons he’d rather not have rehashed here. And on the plus side, he has a cute dog named Kenji, for those that love cute dogs. So, here’s a quickfire list of YouTubers that I know are far worse, besides MrBeast:

  • Jake Paul: Responsible for the multi-faceted nightmare that was Team 10 (the full story best explained here) and insulting the world of Boxing with spectacles based on sinister exploitation, as Super Eyepatch Wolf proved beyond a reasonable doubt at the end of last year.
  • Logan Paul: Engaging in a redemption arc that has shown itself to be a complete façade, failing miserably to respond to legitimate criticism in a mature fashion (think of the S.L.A.P.P Suit against Coffeezilla) and being a manipulative sociopath (IMO).
  • Blaire White: Just because she is a transgender conservative, there’s no excuse for unacceptable lapses in research and being a Tyler Oliveira. i.e. Engaging in Dog Whistle Politics. And that’s not the only major flaw behind her content, as The Right Opinion articulates here.
  • Iilluminaughtii: Her actions prior to and after becoming a pyramid against pyramid schemes completely undermined her central message. Also, rampant plagiarism, as documented by hbomberguy, made me completely lose confidence in the integrity of her videos. As well as the possibility of citing them as a source in the future. Or at least a starting point on a research post.
  • Dream: The way he has handled anything and everything in his social media career has been terrible. I honestly don’t know which examples to cite… But suffice to say, some people should NEVER be given extraordinary levels of fame, power and money, and Dream is one of them.

But that’s just individual content creators. What about individual genres?
