The Aspie #5 – Being Keen on… Mobile Games

I tend to find stimulation and solid mental workouts in this collection of Mobile Games that appeal to me.

Number four is called Woodoku by Tripledot. It takes place in a Sudoku grid, but with wooden pieces. The main aim is to achieve the objective of the level by removing wooden pieces from the grid by way of filling up a row, column and region with one piece each without running out of room for at least one of the three randomly generated pieces below. There are three modes.

The Daily Challenge requires collection of enough jewels to put a star on a particular Day and pass enough Days to complete the month’s set of jewels.

The Classic Mode is an empty grid that one must fill over and over again before running out of space and earning as many points as possible. Keep on playing to better your score.

The Journey Mode is a collection of levels with objectives that must be met, while navigating a multitude of obstacles, from tiles frozen in ice, to slots blocked off, to not a lot of space to allow for errors. After completing so many levels, you earn a Badge. Try to get through all levels in 7 Days or less to collect all the Badges.

And finally, I have Bus Jam by Rollic Games. It’s the easiest one of those get passengers onto a bus before you run out of space games to get into. Others go too difficult, too quickly which I find alienating. I also like the design of this game. A typical grid requires you to get the multi-coloured passengers from the main grid to the waiting station and then onto the correct bus before you run out of space, otherwise you fail. Each level passed brings you a step closer to unlocking a new element that only makes it harder.

The example in this picture is the Bomb Passenger. When they are no longer blocked in by others, they start a countdown. If they don’t get to a space in the Waiting Station before they count down to 0, they will explode, and you will automatically fail miserably. Boosters along the bottom consist of Undo, which does exactly what it says on the tin. Tile Boosters provide three additional spaces in the Waiting Station if you know you’re going to run out of space but know exactly what you’re doing. And the Pipette allows you to automatically transfer a passenger of the colour currently required to the Bus. You can buy Packs of 3 for 1,800 Coins each or earn them through either the Weekly Event or creating a sustained Win Streak of levels passed on your first attempt.

In this case, the Weekly Event is called Pumpkin Rush. You might have noticed some of the passengers in the previous picture holding pumpkin pies. Well, if you were to collect enough of them to fill the bar, you’ll earn the reward available at each milestone. Rewards start with 15 minutes of Unlimited Lives and go all the way to 2,500 Coins for reaching all 30 within 7 Days.

There is also a daily Shark Chase. You and 49 other randomly selected players must battle to win ten levels in a row at the first attempt to share 5,000 Coins. If you break the chain, the challenge is failed but you can start again after 30 Minutes.

And finally, there is the Bus Pass, which is one of those monthly things you can purchase for more impressive rewards for collecting enough tickets to pass each milestone. Each passed level produces 1 ticket, which Hard Levels producing 3 and Harder Levels producing 5. It lasts 28 Days at a time and I have thoughts on the Pros and Cons that I need time to analyse out for another post.
