The Aspie #5 – Being Keen on… Mobile Games

I tend to find stimulation and solid mental workouts in this collection of Mobile Games that appeal to me.

When it comes to what I play on mobile, my current collection falls into one of three categories: Puzzles, Match-3 with a Twist and those Truthfully Advertised. Let me take each in turn.

Puzzles

Puzzles are a staple of gaming in general. The types of puzzles I solve on mobile however, are completely different to what you would find in a newspaper or a puzzle book.

First on this list is Flow Free. The objective of every puzzle is to link all the coloured flows together in such a way that it fills the entire grid without any of them crossing over each other as illustrated below. A simple, easy to understand logic puzzle game.

There are actually four of them in existence! Each one comes with a set number of packs that all feature different board sizes, obstacles, and shapes. The Daily Puzzles are a quick fix to keep your skills sharp while the Weekly Puzzles are a rota of Obstacle, Rectangle and Wall Packs raised to a higher division. The Time Trial allows you to challenge yourself to solve as many grids as possible of sizes 5×5 to 9×9 in times ranging from 30 Seconds to 4 Minutes. And the Store in the bottom-left corner allows you to purchase Hints and assorted colour palettes for the flows themselves.

If you are someone that likes additional challenges, try adding Bridges into the equation.

If you want a different shape for the grid, try turning it into Hexes.

And for a more abstract challenge, try Warps, the style where flows warp from one side of the Grid to the other via a side exit.
